Prof. Mustapha El Alaoui Faris

Doctor Mustapha El Alaoui Faris is Professor of Neurology and Neuropsychology at the Mohamed V University in Rabat , Morocco. He graduated with an MD from Mohamed V University and trained in Neurology and Psychiatry in Rabat and Neuropsychology in Toulouse, France.

His mean clinical interests are Dementia, Clinical Neuropsychology, Stroke, Parkinson’s disease and Multiple Sclerosis. He pioneered translation and validation of Neuropsychological Tests in Arabic and Neurolinguistic Studies on Aphasia, Alexia and Agraphia in Arabic language. He has established the Master’s Degree of Clinical Neuropsychology at the Medical School of Rabat.

Professor El Alaoui Faris leads the National Stroke Research Program of the Royal Academy of Science and Technology, a multidisciplinary program devoted to the study of Epidemiology, Genetics and Risk Factors of Stroke in Morocco.

In collaboration with the department of Neurosurgery, he introduced Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson’s Disease at Mohamed V University in Rabat.

Professor El Alaoui Faris is the current vice-president of the PAUNS and he was the president of the 20th World Congress of Neurology held in Marrakesh on November 2011.

He is the founder and current president of the Moroccan Society of Neuropsychology, the Moroccan Foundation Against Neurological Diseases and the Moroccan Alzheimer’s Association.

Professor El Alaoui Faris is the chair of the WFN Applied Research Group on Migrant Neurology, member of the WFN Educational committee, member of the WHO board for the International Classification of Diseases 11- Neurology (ICD 11) and member of the European Board of Neurological Examination

Dr. Abdallah Mohammed Younes is the President of The Jordan Neurological Society. He works as a consultant neurologist at his private Clinic in Amman, Jordan as well as a visiting consultant at Jordan Medical Center, Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq.

Dr. Abdallah Younes has graduated from an MD Program at the Kuban Medical Institute, Medical Faculty, Krasnodar, Russia. He has received his Ph.D. in Neurology from Scientific-Research Institute of Neurology, Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow, Russia.

His major fields of clinical specialization are related to:

  • Epilepsy;
  • Headaches;
  • Stroke;
  • Multiple sclerosis;
  • EEG and EMG;

 Dr. Abdallah Younes’ has 21 year of professional training and experience including Consultant Neurologist and Head of Neurology Department, Ministry of Health, Al-Bashir Hospital, Amman, Jordan, and Consultant Neurologist and Head of Neurology Section, King Khaled Civilian Hospital, Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Abdallah Younes’ research work in vascular neurology resulted in PhD thesis entitled "Disorders of Cerebral Circulation in Subclavian Steal Syndrome" successfully defended at the Scientific-Research Institute of Neurology, Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow, Russia.

His other published works in local, regional and international journals are related to:

  • Study of valproate effect on polycystic ovary syndrome in epileptic female patients;
  • Study of unusual presentations in neurology: Guillaine-Barre syndrome and cerebral sinus thrombosis;
  • Research in diabetic neuropathy;
  • Research in stroke awareness in Jordanian population.

Dr. Abdallah has teaching experience as a lecturer of Neurology at Applied Balqa University.

He has also participated as an invited speaker at many congresses and conferences at local and regional levels.

Dr. Abdallah has membership in the following scientific societies and committees:
